SCS Snake is the classic snake arcade game. Why did I bother making yet another snake game? Well, they are incredibly addicting, fun for both young and old alike, and most snake games out there are badly done and outdated. SCS Snake is the “90’s” version.
So here is a high quality game that can provide hours of entertainment. I hope you enjoy playing this game as much as I did, and if you do, please pay the small shareware fee. I’m a poor student, and programming is a very expensive hobby. It’s only $5 for hours of hard work. Paying the shareware fee will encourage me to continue in my efforts to provide the Macintosh community with low cost shareware programs.
SCS Snake may be distributed freely, provided it is not altered in any way, and this text file is included with it. It may be put on Shareware CD ROM collections, etc... provided you have my permission to do so.
Requirements/Compatibility
SCS Snake requires Color QuickDraw. That’s it. It will work in black and white if the machine is Color QuickDraw compatible, so it’s great for PowerBooks.
The default key settings in SCS Snake may not work with some keyboards (e.g. Apple Ergnomic). If this happens, go to the options dialog box and reset your key settings. After that everything will work fine.
I’m quite sure all the bugs are gone, but if you find any incompatibilites or bugs, please let me know.
How To Play
Object: You must keep your snake from hitting it’s head on anything other than the crystals that it eats.
To play, use the numerical keypad, or set your own custom key settings.
As the game progresses, you grow longer with each crystal you consume, the game gets faster and faster, and more and more obstacles are added to the playing field. This leads to some incredibly intense game play that will push your heart rate off the charts!
You can configure your preferences by choosing Options... from the File menu. From there you can set your preffered key settings, turn the sound on and off, and choose if you want obstacles to be added to the grid over time.
SCS Snake High Scores Contest
Open to Registered users of SCS Snake
Send in (on disk or E-Mail) a copy of the SCS Snake Preferences file located in the Preferences folder in the Sytem Folder. The highest score on the list will be entered. The score must be higher than 200 points, and it must have been played with the block adding option on for the entire game. You can’t cheat in any way. I’ve thought of everything, and the program will detect if you cheated in the contest. This will ensure the contest to be fair for everyone.
Get your entries in by July 1st, 1995. A second contest will be held afterwards and the deadline will be December 31st, 1995.
